ST-110 Standard Penetration Test is used for determining the penetration resistance (N-value) specified in ASTM D – 1586 (Penetration Test for Soils) and at the same time to obtain representative sample for identification and other laboratory tests, though the sample is some what disturbed. Ordinary boring machine is applied for making test hole, but in the case of shallow exploration, hand auger is used.
